Frontier Formalities, Passport and Visas: Nationals of the following countries can enter Turkey with a valid passport; a visa is required: Up to 3 Months Germany, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Bahrain, Barbados, Belize, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Morocco, Fiji, Finland, France, Granada, Iran, Switzerland, Iceland, Jamaica, Japan, Canada, Qatar, Kenya, Kuwait, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Monaco, Norway, Oman, St. Lucia, San Marino, Seychelles, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Trinidad, Tobago, Tunisia, Vatican City, New Zealand, Greece, Ecuador, Sweden, Israel, South Korea, Uruguay. Up to 2 Months The Republic of Croatia, The Republic of Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Rumania, Macedonia, Indonesia. Up to 1 Month Bolivia, Kazakstan, Kyrgyzstan, The Republic of South Africa. For the countries mentioned above and Bulgaria, a transit visa is not required. Nationals of the following countries require a visa: U.S.A., Austria, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Belgium, Holland, and Portugal can obtain a sticker visa at border gates (Up to 3 Months). Azerbaijan, White Russia, Armenia, Moldavia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Tadzhikistan Ukraine, Hungary, Poland, The Czech Republic, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Georgia, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and Taiwan can obtain a sticker visa at border gates (Up to 1 Month). Nationals of Guatemala can obtain a visa for up to 15 days at border gates. Nationals of Jordan, up to 30 days. Nationals of all other countries require a visa, which can be obtained from the nearest Turkish embassy or consulate.
Note: Citizens of Germany, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Spain, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, and Greece may enter Turkey with the proper identity cards in lieu of a passport.
DAY 1 ISTANBUL: Welcome to Turkey. Arrive in Istanbul Airport, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel. After check into the hotel, Overnight in Istanbul.
DAY 2 ISTANBUL: At 09:00am (Classical Highlights) Our journey begins in Istanbul's Hippodrome Area, the only city in the world situated on two continents. Byzantium, Constantinople, Istanbul - its three names span more than 2600 years, nearly 1600 of them as the capital of two of the greatest empires the world has known, Byzantine and Ottoman. We visit the Topkapi Palace , the Blue Mosque and Hippodrome, where chariot races and the Byzantine riots took place. Dinner and overnight in Istanbul. ( B,L )
DAY 3: DARDANELLES - TROY / ASSOS: Breakfast follows we have araly depart to Canakkale. Around 11:00am we arrive to Homer's Troy, and the site of King Priam's Treasures. Probably the most famous city of classical times - who doesn't know the story of the Trojan Horse. After Troy, we proceed to the ancient city of Assos, the city was settled, and has been inhabited, since the Early Bronze Age. Dinner and Overnight in Ayvalik. (B,D)
DAY 4 PERGAMUM - THYATHIRA: Depart to Bergama way that we enjoy a scenic drive through Thrace to stop by the hauntingly beautiful Pergamum (Bergama). Visit the Acropolis with its pagan temples and Altar of Zeus. Continue to the healing center, Aesclepion. In the afternoon proceed to Thyatira, another one of the Seven Churches. See the remains of a Basilica and other ruins from the Roman Period. Drive to Izmir for overnight. ( B, L )
DAY 5 SARDES-PHILADELPHIA-PAMUKKALE: After breakfast depart for Sardes, another of the Seven Churches mentioned by St. John. Continue to Philadelphia, another one of the Christian congregations, and a city built in 2 BC by King Eumenos. Continue to Pamukkale (Hierapolis). We have time to watch the sunset over the petrified waterfalls. Overnight in Pamukkale. ( B, D )
DAY 6 LEODICEA - EPHESUS: After breakfast we have visit to Hierapolis and then Laodicea before continuing to Ephesus. See the final abode of the Virgin Mary where she spent her last years. Tour through ancient Ephesus to see the old synagogue, the theatre where St. Paul preached (Acts 10), the Library of Celsus and other sights. Overnight in Kusadasi.( B, D )
DAY 7 Izmir (Old Smyrna) - Flight to Istanbul: After breakfast follows tour to Izmir, ancient Smyrna, was the second of the seven Christian churches in Asia Minor to which St. John the Divine wrote (Revelation l-11). Transfer to the airport for the flight to Istanbul. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Istanbul. ( B, D )
